Gianmarco Gabriele Marchionna
Gianmarco Gabriele Marchionna is a Senior Research Fellow at the GLOBSEC GeoTech Center, where his work addresses critical infrastructure, with a primary focus on cyber-physical convergence, grid digitalisation, and the protection of essential digital and energy infrastructure, and particular attention to submarine cables and Europe’s southern flank.
As Cybersecurity Manager at an international consulting firm, he works with critical infrastructure operators across telecommunications, energy, and the public sector on cyber strategy, operational resilience, and board-level cyber risk governance.
Alongside this, he is an Italian Navy Reserve officer, a NextGen Futures Research Fellow at the NATO Defense College, a member of the EU CyberNet Expert Pool, and a Member of the LUISS Center for International and Strategic Studies (CISS). His analysis on Mediterranean connectivity, energy, and critical infrastructure security has appeared in leading policy and research outlets. Previously, he was part of the EuroMeSCo Research Group and the World Energy Council, and has taught in executive master’s programmes on cybersecurity and emerging technologies.
He holds an MSc in Intelligence and Emerging Technologies from the Centre for Higher Defence Studies (CASD) and the University of Udine, and an Executive Master in Cybersecurity Management from the Politecnico di Milano.
